What is the most valuable thing I learned from these experiences?
-
That anything can have value.
-
There is more than one perspective.
-
I function just fine on 4 hours of sleep per night.
-
Those who seem the most strange and unusual will have something in common with you.
Enjoyment
What else do I do for fun?
Ask questions! A lot of them...My baby book says one of my first words or phrases was, "What dat?" Much of my artistic inspiration comes from asking people questions and learning about who they are in relation to everyone else. Art seems to flow most readily by making connections between seemingly unique entities.
Hike! I love the mountains, forests and camping with my partner Colin and our dog Aussie. If you need a suggestions for what to do in Alberta or BC, just let me know. There is a trail for that. A few of my favourite trails:
-
Hawk Creek to Ball Pass, Kootenay National Park, 20km round trip
-
Wasootch Ridge, Kananaskis, 14km
-
Bedwell Lake, Strathcona Provincial Park, BC, 15km
Watch movies! Psychological thrillers, hiking adventures, and dark comedies are my favourites. I have hundreds of favourites, but here are a few noteworthy displays of cinematic genius:
-
Room, 2015
-
Requiem for a Dream, 2000
-
Delicatessen, 1991
-
(The Goonies, 1985 is all-time fave!)
Play ukulele and guitar! Mostly ukulele these days. My favourite songs to play (that are easy enough to manage) are:
-
Norweigan Wood, The Beatles
-
Dream a Little Dream of Me, The Mamas and the Papas version
-
Old Love, Eric Clapton live acoustic version
Listen to music! I love many genres of music, but my favourite era is 1960's. The psychedelic nature of the those times often influences my drawings.
